VH1’s Save the Music Program

Here at Gerry’s Music, we like to keep our amazing customers in the loop about all things music! When we’re excited about a new program or a new instrument, we’re going to let you know.  So today, we’d like to share a program that is doing amazing work around a topic near and dear to our hearts .

VH1’s Save the Music Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring music programs in America’s public schools, and raising awareness about the importance of music as part of each child’s complete education.

You can see why we’re excited about this, right?

We already know how important music education is for kids.  However, budget cuts in schools all over the country are making it difficult to keep these classes available to kids. In order to alleviate some of the financial burden for schools, the VH1 Save The Music Foundation provides grants to public elementary and middle schools that do not currently have an instrumental music program in place. Instead of an open application process, schools in need of funding are identified by the Foundation.

Once an invited school has applied for a grant and been accepted, VH1 Save the Music provides high-quality, new musical instruments to jump-start the new music program.

According to their website, since the start of the Foundation, $52 million worth of musical instruments have been granted, 233 school districts around the country have participated and 2.6 million lives have been positively impacted.

We think this is pretty great and incredibly inspiring.
